1925 SWITZERLAND Jungfrau / Interlaken / Alps - Swiss-Made RPPC Real Photo Postcard – Swiss Alps - July 16, 1925 INTERLAKEN Postmark - Boston MA Address - Phot. Gabler, Interlaken Photographer
1925 Swiss RPPC real photo postcard view of the city of Interlaken with the snow-covered Jungfrau in the background. Caption in German on the front and hand dated July 16, 1925 in the lower margin. Interlaken is located in the Bernese Oberland region of the Swiss Alps, and the main transport gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region. The town is located on the Bödeli, between Lake Thun on the west and Lake Brienz on the east.
The message on the back is hand-written in old German Kurrent-Schrift, is address to an American immigrant "meine lieber Liesel" in Boston, MA from a German relative / friend, probably in Interlaken on holiday. Card has a Swiss postage stamp, and July 16, 1925 postmark from Interlaken. Made in Switzerland (“Fabrication Suisse”) is printed in French on the back as is the name of the photographer - “Phot. Gabler, Interlaken”.
PHOTO NOTE: Quality matte finish white border real photo postcard. Scanning frequently distorts the clarity of the image and the intensity of color. When viewed in person, the card image usually has greater clarity and color intensity, compared to the more muted "grainy" look of the scan. Minute defects are also exaggerated by the scans, and often barely noticeable when viewed in person.
CONDITION: PLEASE EXAMINE THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY. In excellent condition for its age, but not perfect. Card has no tears, folds or major creases; corners may be slightly crimped and edge damaged in spots. Border shows some age discoloration on the edges. Back has generalized tan age discoloration, and occasional soiled spot. Penciled writing in German is slightly faded. ALL FLAWS ARE OBVIOUS IN THE PHOTOS.
