Description:

c1947 Chester Pennsylvania High School - Curt Teich C.T. American Art Postcard - Chester PA Postmark

c1947 postcard captioned “C-21 – Chester High School, Chester, Pa.”  Located in the block formed by 8th & 9th, Parker & Fulton Streets in Chester, the large impressive graystone building was erected in 1901.  It was destroyed by fire on January 9, 1968.

Stamped and postmarked April 17, 1947, from Chester to an address in Norwich CT.

White border frame, matte finished and colored, “C. T. American Art” Postcard, Number 81884-N, published by Curt Teich (1893-1974), Chicago Illinois.  Distributed by Lynn H. Boyer, Jr., Wildwood NJ.

PHOTO NOTE:  Matte finish lithograph.  Scanning frequently distorts the clarity of the image. When viewed in person, the card image usually shows greater clarity and intensity of colors, compared to the more muted "grainy" look of the scanned image.  Minute defects are also exaggerated by the scans, and often barely noticeable when viewed in person. The photos distort the clarity of the images and sometimes the intensity of the colors. The muted "grainy" look is largely a distortion. The clarity is greater when viewed in person. Minute defects are exaggerated by the scanning process, and some are virtually noticeable when viewed in person.

CONDITION: PLEASE EXAMINE THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY. In very good condition, but not perfect. Light postal cancellation marks visible in the sky above the building. No major tears or creases. Damaged corners and border edges show wear. White border shows some light soiling. Back has generalized soiling / discoloration, more noticeable around the edges. Message, address and postmark are very readable. ALL FLAWS ARE OBVIOUS IN THE PHOTOS.
