The Australian Postcard Society Inc. began with a group of interested people meeting on Thursday, 5th March, 2009, to discuss the formation of a postcard club in Adelaide, Australia. Club meetings are held monthly with items of interest from a nominated topic each meeting along with a display from a member. Members can bring postcards for sale, an auction is held, and tea/coffee is available.
We are an organisation for collectors and lovers of Postcards, Cigarette and Trade cards and many other forms of ephemera and paper collectables. Based in Sydney, Australia we have members all over the world. We have 4 Fairs a year with lots of cards for sale, and browsing is very welcome.
Club interests cover most paper ephemera including cigarette, playing and Trade cards, menus, sheet music, coasters, calendars etc. But postcards are the primary interest. Meetings are held on the Last Saturday of each month, except December, Uniting Church, 165 Railway Pde. Mt. Lawley . Meetings start at 1pm with business at 2pm and close 4.30 or 5.00pm. Visitors are always welcome.
Whilst the word “cartophilic” would suggest our interest is primarily in cards - cigarette cards, trade cards and post cards; our members have a wide range of collecting interests including badges, posters and other ephemera items.
The QCCS Inc. is an incorporated club of people who collect postcards, trade cards and cigarette cards. Our group meets on the last Tuesday of each month (December excluded) in the church hall behind St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 59 Dornoch Terrace, West End which is centrally located in Brisbane just south west of the city centre. Meetings start at 7:30pm. The format of each meeting usually involves a discussion of official business, followed by new business and announcements, then a presentation on a card related topic usually as a digital presentation followed by refreshments and informal mingling. Cards are often brought along for trade, sale or just to be shown off and the lots from our bi-monthly postal auction of 200-250+ lots are available for inspection. Unsold lots are available for direct purchase at the reserve price at the meeting following the auction. Members have access to a large library of reference books and journals. Visitors who wish to attend, see how we operate or bring some cards for assessment or sale are welcome.
